Thyroid cancer care

DISCOVER THE CTCA DIFFERENCE IN PERSONALIZED CANCER TREATMENT

At Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), we understand that thyroid cancer and its treatment can impact the patient’s quality of life.
That’s why our multidisciplinary care team of thyroid cancer experts will work with you, and one another, to develop a personalized treatment plan based on your individual needs, preferences and goals. Our otolaryngology-trained oncologists are trained and experienced in all stages of thyroid cancer, from diagnosing the disease, to treating it and managing its side effects, to survivorship. We put you at the center of your care, keeping you informed of the implications of your disease and the treatment options available to you, so you can make informed decisions about the road ahead. We call that the Mother Standard® of care: It’s how we treat each patient—not just as a whole person, but like we’d want our own family to be treated.

How are we different?

Urgency

Appointments are available in as little as 24 hours, and many treatment plans are developed within 48 hours of a patient’s first visit.

Convenience

We’ll take care of gathering your relevant medical records and making your transportation, travel and lodging arrangements.

Expertise

We have the expertise to confirm a diagnosis or treatment plan and offer options that may not have been considered. We can also assess your risk of recurrent cancer.

Quality of life-focused treatments

Our thyroid cancer treatment program includes options to fight the disease and relieve cancer- and treatment-related side effects. Your treatment plan depends on many factors, including the stage, type and progression of the disease. Our collaborative care team will work with you to deliver quality clinical care with a patient-centered approach. For example, patients with thyroid cancer who have had most or all of their thyroid gland removed by surgery may need to take daily hormone supplements in order to maintain their bodies’ normal metabolism.

Comprehensive team approach

Your thyroid cancer care team works together all under one roof. That means you have access to state-of-the-art cancer treatments and supportive care services, all in one location. Your care team will be led by a otolaryngology-trained oncologist, and your treatment plan is coordinated by a care manager dedicated to orchestrating your schedule, communicating with the rest of your care team, getting your questions answered and helping you access your test results in a timely manner. Depending on your diagnosis and needs, your care team may also include a medical, surgical and/or radiation oncologist, oncology nurses and a variety of supportive care providers.

Whole-person care

Our doctors work with supportive care providers to deliver evidence-informed services designed to address the symptoms of your disease and the side effects of treatment. That’s what integrative care is about: keeping you strong so you can better tolerate your treatments and maintain your quality of life. Our supportive care services include nutritional support to help you develop a diet plan to help stay nourished, while pain management physicians offer medication and non-medicinal approaches to help you keep your pain in check. And our spiritual support and behavioral health providers help support your mental and emotional health before, during and after your treatment.

“Since CTCA focuses solely on cancer care, the entire facility and its staff understand their roles in making the process better for the patients. Being focused on cancer allows the entire ideology and mindset of everyone to be uniform.”

Access to clinical trials

Clinical trials are critical tools researchers and doctors use to determine the safety and effectiveness of new drugs and therapies. At CTCA®, we’re committed to offering our patients innovative and new cancer treatments, including access to clinical trials when appropriate. These trials may provide therapies that are not yet widely available to qualified patients who have exhausted conventional treatment options or whose cancer is advanced or difficult to treat. Our cancer doctors and researchers will work with you to determine whether you qualify for a trial and, if so, help you enroll.

Within a week, I had an appointment scheduled for CTCA. I couldn’t believe how fast it happened. They got my information and sent for my health records. From the first evaluation, I knew that I didn’t want to get treatment anywhere else."
