“I am proud to be a member of the integrated care team at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) and to serve our patients and their families,” says hospitalist Dr. Ramtin Ramsey.
After graduating with an honors degree in medical biochemistry from the University of the Witwatersrand, in South Africa, in 1994, Dr. Ramsey continued at the same institution to obtain his doctor of medicine degree in 2001.
Dr. Ramsey then served as an intern and house officer at Kalafong Hospital, in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, and then moved to Mafikeng Provincial Hospital, also in South Africa, where he was a community service medical officer in internal medicine and anesthesiology from 2002 to 2003. In 2003, Dr. Ramsey relocated to the United Kingdom, where he did a residency in anesthesiology at Leeds Nuffield Hospital. From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Ramsey continued his residency at London Bridge Hospital, focusing on anesthesiology and critical care.
In 2006, Dr. Ramsey came to the United States, completing an internship and then a residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center, in Philadelphia.
In addition to his formal medical training, Dr. Ramsey is also certified in advanced cardiac life support and fundamental critical care support. He is board certified in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine. He holds a medical license in the State of Arizona.
Dr. Ramsey was a mentor at St. John’s Hospital, in Longview, Washington, and supervised physician assistants and nurse practitioners at that institution. He is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
When he is not caring for patients at CTCA, Dr. Ramsey enjoys playing squash and racquetball, hiking, traveling, playing chess, and studying ancient history.
