J. Burr Ross, MD has more than 32 years of experience in pulmonology, with special interest in interventional pulmonary procedures and lung cancer. He joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Western Regional Medical Center (Western) as a pulmonologist in 2009.
“At CTCA, I enjoy having the freedom to be able to do what I feel is best for my patients with advanced technology,” says Dr. Ross.
After receiving his masters in science degree in engineering at Oklahoma State University, Dr. Ross earned a medical degree from University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. He then completed an internship, residency and fellowship in internal medicine and pulmonary disease at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix.
While at CTCA, Dr. Ross has been able to use advanced tools such as navigational bronchoscopy and tissue ablation for the diagnosis and treatment of advanced disease. He also enjoys having time to spend with each patient to educate and explain the entire process.
He has a keen interest in research involving interventional pulmonary devices for treatment of emphysema and for the diagnosis of lung cancer.
Dr. Ross has had his work published in the Annals of Internal Medicine and Journal of Bronchology. He has given presentations for the Arizona Society of Respiratory Therapy Annual Meeting, and also proceedings of the 26th Annual Coccidioidomycosis Study Group Meeting.
A Diplomate of American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Ross is certified in pulmonary disease and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He was named a “Top Doc” in Phoenix Magazine twice, and was also named to the list of “Top Doctors” in Arizona Business Magazine three years in a row.
In his free time, Dr. Ross enjoys flying aerobatic aircraft.
