Barbara Crandall has a background in pediatric oncology and ICU care. She joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Western Regional Medical Center (Western) to become part of what she calls a caring and enriching environment for cancer patients.
Crandall’s goal is to help people who are fighting cancer be strong in body and mind. “It’s about so much more than eating – it’s about educating my patients on the importance of choosing the right foods in order for them to be nourished enough to fight their cancer.”
Crandall especially enjoys the teamwork at CTCA. She works daily with a team of clinicians in the Patient Empowered Care® clinic, collaborating on all aspects of their patients’ care. “We see our patients over and over again,” says Crandall. “We get to know them. It’s a very caring environment.”
A registered dietitian, Crandall earned a Bachelors of Science in dietetics from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. Crandall has received two philanthropy awards for developing a patient-centered pediatric oncology program and a pediatric diabetes program that improves the health and well-being of children affected by these diseases.
Crandall also led a nutrition support advisory committee in the Arizona region. She has been a guest speaker at the Infusion Nursing Society annual conference, and received published special thanks for one of KCI’s RotoProne studies.
