"At Cancer Treatment Centers of America, I am able to take the time to develop relationships with patients so they know exactly who to turn to when they have nutrition-related questions or need more nutrition support through treatment."

Ashley Baldwin, RD
Clinical Oncology Dietitian

Ashley Baldwin, RD, joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Western Regional Medical Center as a registered dietitian in 2012. She enjoys many aspects of CTCA, including the spirit of each and every person who works at the hospital.

“We all carry ourselves in a way that uplifts and supports one another,” says Baldwin of the doctors and clinicians at CTCA. “Patients can both see and feel this, not only in their care, but also as a part of their spiritual and physical wellbeing as they battle cancer.”

Baldwin graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in nutrition-dietetics from Arizona State University-Polytechnic in Mesa, Arizona. She then completed a dietetic internship at the University of Oklahoma-Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.

Prior to joining CTCA, Baldwin worked as a nutrition and weight-loss consultant for a fitness facility in Arizona.

“I am glad to be able to bring the dynamic weight loss coaching techniques I have learned to the nutrition team here at Western,” says Baldwin.

Baldwin is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and also a member of the Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group.

Overall, Baldwin says that the most important part of her role at CTCA is to build trust.

“If there is not a foundation of trust, it is hard to help patients make lifestyle changes,” she says. “Cultures revolve around the diet and food, and it is sometimes the only constant in our crazy lives. Trust is important for making changes to something that is so close to us.”
