Calypso® 4D Localization System™

CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center is the first hospital in the Midwest to offer the Calypso® 4D Localization SystemTM, also known as GPS for the Body. This technology shows real promise for people fighting prostate cancer.

In this video, you’ll hear from Dr. Bernard Eden, Director of Radiation Oncology at CTCA at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. As Dr. Eden describes the Calypso® system, you'll see, through 3D medical animation, how it works.

“Prior to the development of this Calypso® system, there was no effective way to monitor prostate motion while radiation was being delivered to the prostate gland. By using the GPS for the Body®, we can actually track the prostate motion during treatment. This allows us to increase the dose of radiation to the target and spare the radiation to the surrounding normal tissues,” says Dr. Eden.

Real Patients. Real Stories. Real Hope.

Do these videos feature real cancer patients?

Yes, the videos in this section feature real CTCA survivors with real stories to tell. These are not actors. They are cancer patients who came to CTCA and emerged as survivors. These stories are not scripted. They are personal accounts of people who found hope, and a voice, at CTCA. This is what they have to say, in their own words...

Why are some, not all, cancer types listed?

At CTCA, we treat individuals with a variety of cancer types. However, all of our survivors are not on film. If you don't see a survivor with the cancer type you're looking for, it only means we do not have a video at this time.

Keep in mind, we are continuously adding videos to this section. If you don't see the one you're looking for today, visit us again, or let us know how we can improve.
