Dr. Daniel Nader: Pulmonology is the specialty of chest diseases. I deal with patients that have diseases of the lung. Interventional pulmonology is like a sub-specialty of pulmonary, in which we are trained to do diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in which we have instruments that allow us to do non-invasive type of procedures that may be very beneficial in patients who are either suspected of having lung cancer, or therapeutic procedures in patients that do have lung cancer.
From a pulmonary standpoint, we have various techniques and therapies that may be beneficial for patients that have diseases that are blocking off their airways. Those patients are frequently very symptomatic, they have lots of symptoms; coughing of blood, shortness of breath, chest pains, pneumonias. And, with the techniques that we have we’re often times able to make those conditions far better so that those patients then become good candidates for other radiation therapy or chemotherapy.
At CTCA, we provide patients with treatment options that fit their lifestyle. Listen to Dr. Daniel Nader describe several treatment options for lung cancer available at Southwestern Regional Medical Center.
