A Place For Hope: Chapter 7
In Chapter 7, Lynette talks about the compassionate and down-to-earth nature of Dr. Edgar Staren, who credits CTCA founder Richard J Stephenson for his leadership and personal mission to change the face of cancer care. He describes the Mother Standard® of care:
"How would you want your mother to be cared for? You wouldn't want impersonal care. You wouldn't want her to be addressed as a number. You wouldn't want her to wait days or weeks for tests to be performed. If a person has cancer and it's your mother, you want them taken care of yesterday. And you want them taken care of by individuals who recognize it's your mother. And that's what we do here," says Dr. Staren.

Dr. Edgar Staren: I give tremendous credit to our chairman and the leadership that he put in place to identify a different way of doing it and it came from the heart. Our chairman end up having his mother die of cancer and he therefore took that as a personal mission to change the way cancer care was given.
