Dr. Sybilann Williams: My name is Sybilann Williams, and I’m chief of gynecological oncology at CTCA in Zion. I’m a breast cancer survivor myself. I found my cancer myself during breast cancer awareness month and so I chose to get my treatment right here at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and I really availed myself of the whole-person approach.
I found that acupuncture was very helpful in terms of controlling nausea from chemotherapy. The naturopathic staff were tremendous in terms of helping me through side effects and certainly I feel that, having gone through the cancer journey myself, that I have a special empathy for patients and there is always an immediate connection. I’m able to really tune into the underlying anxieties that go along with the diagnosis, and having gone through that journey myself, having lost my hair, having gone through surgery, I really am able to appreciate all of the things that go along with the treatment of cancer.
