In Her Own Words: Kathleen, Lung Cancer Survivor
In March of 1999, Kathleen Houlihan learned that she had inoperable lung cancer. In this video, she describes her experiences in finding and receiving the comprehensive cancer care she needed to heal at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA).
Kathleen recalls of her first visit to CTCA, “When we arrived at the airport for the very first time in Tulsa, it was maybe 10 at night, dark. I wasn’t feeling good, we were scared and we got to the baggage area and saw this big man with a white beard holding a sign with my name on it. That was Jim. He had come to pick us up for CTCA. In conversation he said, ‘You know, we have some rules here at CTCA. One of them is we take you any place you want to go. While you’re here, if you want to go to a movie, you let me know and I’m gonna take you there. You want to go to a restaurant; you need to go some place, just let us know. That’s what we’re here for in the transportation department. We’re gonna take you wherever you want to go.’”
