Joe Bacal - Hodgkin's Disease Survivor

Professional driver, Joe Bacal, knew he wasn't feeling right, but was shocked to receive a diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease. Joe and his wife sought out cancer hospitals where he would receive cutting-edge treatment and a compassionate approach. They soon found Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA).

"My doctor was two turns ahead, like I am on a race track," says Joe.

"Four months after coming to CTCA, I jumped in a vehicle and I'm literally talking to myself as I'm driving saying, 'I beat cancer!' That was my defining moment."

Joe Bacal: As a pro driver you’ve got to be on your game, and I just felt like something’s just not right. I was really wiped out. They found I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After talking with the doctor, my wife and looked at each other and go “we’re out of here”. No sympathy, I didn’t have that connection.

As soon as I got on the phone with a gentlemen from Cancer Treatment Centers of America, he knew what I was going through. They not only do traditional therapy, but a lot of other things that balance the chemotherapy or radiation, and it's just like “this is what I’m looking for”. Everyone’s just got a smile and their just like nice to have you. My doctor she’s like two turns ahead like I am on a race track, you know it’s like cool.

Real Patients. Real Stories. Real Hope.

Do these videos feature real cancer patients?

Yes, the videos in this section feature real CTCA survivors with real stories to tell. These are not actors. They are cancer patients who came to CTCA and emerged as survivors. These stories are not scripted. They are personal accounts of people who found hope, and a voice, at CTCA. This is what they have to say, in their own words...

Why are some, not all, cancer types listed?

At CTCA, we treat individuals with a variety of cancer types. However, all of our survivors are not on film. If you don't see a survivor with the cancer type you're looking for, it only means we do not have a video at this time.

Keep in mind, we are continuously adding videos to this section. If you don't see the one you're looking for today, visit us again, or let us know how we can improve.
