Fairy Weeks - Breast Cancer Survivor

Fairy Weeks was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. In this video, Fairy describes how she found hope and healing at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA):

"Of course, I wanted to live. I wanted to fight for my life. Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa gave me that positive attitude...

What became so comforting is as we walked through those doors is there seemed to be a spirit in the place that was unlike any other place I had ever been.

Dr. Greeff looked me straight in the eyes and spoke to me as gentle and kind and caring-I had never had a doctor speak to me like that..."

Fairy Weeks: I was hearing the word ‘cancer’ which kind of makes you feel like you are given the death sentence right then at that time. Of course I wanted to live; I wanted to fight for my life, and Cancer Treatment Centers here in Tulsa is the one that gave me that positive attitude that I realized that I probably already had but yet they helped me reinforce that through the attitude that the hospital had when we arrived.

Going down that innerstate I bet we could have been doing 100 miles/hour but we came to a stop on the side of the road because he could not… I cautioned him about his driving and he just broke down in tears and he pulled over to the side of the road and we finally had our good cry together because at that time is when I believed that we really felt like we were heading in the right direction and we were.

What became so comforting is as we walked through those stores there seem to be a spirit in the place that was unlike any other place I had ever been. Dr. Greeff is the first doctor that I met. He was the surgeon. He looked me straight in the eyes and spoke to me as gentle and as kind and as caring. I had never had a doctor speak to me like that.

Rodney Weeks: Dr. Griffith came over and asked Fairy, “Now how do you feel? What do you want to do?” I just can’t tell you how much we appreciated what they did; how easy they made it. They will just take care of you. You don’t have to worry about anything.

Fairy Weeks: I am cancer free now for three and a half years. We have been privileged in many ways and been blessed in many ways by just being cancer free, we just feel like we are on top of the world.

Real Patients. Real Stories. Real Hope.

Do these videos feature real cancer patients?

Yes, the videos in this section feature real CTCA survivors with real stories to tell. These are not actors. They are cancer patients who came to CTCA and emerged as survivors. These stories are not scripted. They are personal accounts of people who found hope, and a voice, at CTCA. This is what they have to say, in their own words...

Why are some, not all, cancer types listed?

At CTCA, we treat individuals with a variety of cancer types. However, all of our survivors are not on film. If you don't see a survivor with the cancer type you're looking for, it only means we do not have a video at this time.

Keep in mind, we are continuously adding videos to this section. If you don't see the one you're looking for today, visit us again, or let us know how we can improve.
