Harry Buchman: You know I have people ask me all the time how they become a patient here at CTCA. Its actually really simple, they pick up the phone and call us or go on our website and chat with an Oncology Information Specialist 24 hours a day, all of are patients are self referred. Everyone that come here, has picked up the phone and called us or went on line, sent us an email, did a live chat with one of our Oncology Information Specialist. They’re there to answer your questions up front about; does your insurances work here? What are the different treatments or specialties we have? What are some of the locations that are hospitals are placed, throughout the United States?
Once they decided that CTCA is the place they would like to come to for another opinion or for treatment options, they are actually transferred to one of the schedulers at one of our hospitals; our schedule will talk to them about what days they would like to come. Ask them where they have been, tell there facility so we can go ahead and start gathering all there medical records.
We set up there apt date for them, in many cases we help with the travel arrangements, as far as train tickets or plane tickets or giving them a map to get to one of the facilities if they are going to drive here. If there arriving by train or by plane we actually pick them up at the airport or the train station with one of our drivers. They don’t have to worry about getting their bags, they don’t have to worry about renting a car, we take care of all those things for them. So all they have to worry about is telling us they want to make an appointment, choosing a date, and we pretty much take care of everything else for them, it’s actually kinda simple.
