Origins of CTCA & the Mother Standard®

This brief video features Stephen Bonner, President & CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). Mr. Bonner discusses how the untimely death of CTCA Founder Richard Stephenson's mother influenced Mr. Stephenson to create CTCA. He explains the Mother Standard®, a driving philosophy behind the CTCA model of care.

More than a gold standard, the Mother Standard® reflects the way every CTCA employee would want their own mother, father, brother, or sister to be treated if they had cancer.

Stephen Bonner: Dick’s mother’s death clearly was a very profound experience for him and out of that he concluded that in his mother’s memory and her honor he was going to dedicate the rest of his life to changing the pace of cancer, to creating a model of cancer care and his mother’s image designed to put the patient in the center of the organization to worry about what the patient wanted, how they wanted it, where they wanted to get it and surrounding the patient with an organization that was completely dedicated to delivering that as their mission.

Real Patients. Real Stories. Real Hope.

Do these videos feature real cancer patients?

Yes, the videos in this section feature real CTCA survivors with real stories to tell. These are not actors. They are cancer patients who came to CTCA and emerged as survivors. These stories are not scripted. They are personal accounts of people who found hope, and a voice, at CTCA. This is what they have to say, in their own words...

Why are some, not all, cancer types listed?

At CTCA, we treat individuals with a variety of cancer types. However, all of our survivors are not on film. If you don't see a survivor with the cancer type you're looking for, it only means we do not have a video at this time.

Keep in mind, we are continuously adding videos to this section. If you don't see the one you're looking for today, visit us again, or let us know how we can improve.
