Fractionated Dose Chemotherapy for Vaginal Cancer
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), our cancer experts take a whole-patient approach to vaginal cancer treatment, meaning we treat the whole person, not just the disease. Here, we do everything in our power to help improve your comfort as we help you fight vaginal cancer.
In an effort to make vaginal cancer treatment more manageable, the cancer doctors at CTCA have been offering fractionated dose chemotherapy for a number of years. Fractionated dose chemotherapy is a unique chemotherapy delivery method that can help reduce some of the side effects of traditional chemotherapy, such as nausea and vomiting.
Unlike standard methods of chemotherapy, which administers anti-cancer drugs in one large, single dose, fractionated dose chemotherapy delivers chemotherapy doses in smaller amounts over a longer period of time (e.g., a period of three to five days). Thus, the smaller doses of anti-cancer drugs work over a longer period of time, which may help to reduce some of the unpleasant side effects of standard chemotherapy for vaginal cancer.
