Colposcopy for vaginal cancer

Colposcopy for vaginal cancer

If abnormal tissue is identified, your doctor may take a sample of the cells and send them to a pathologist for closer examination and testing.

What is a colposcopy?

During this exam, also known as a vaginoscopy, your doctor uses a special microscope, called a colposcope, to look at the vaginal walls and cervix more closely. The colposcope is designed to provide an enlarged view of the areas, allowing your doctor to observe any abnormal tissue.
