Uterine Cancer: Extreme Drug Resistance
The Extreme Drug Resistance (EDR) Assay (also known as Chemoresistance) is used by oncologists at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) to help customize uterine cancer chemotherapy treatments. EDR helps our doctors determine the probability of a uterine cancer tumor’s resistance to specific chemotherapeutic drugs. If the uterine cancer cells grow in the presence of extreme exposure to a drug, this indicates that a significant drug resistance could be present in the patient's tumor.
By testing whether or not your uterine cancer tumor may be resistant to particular chemotherapy drugs, CTCA physicians can avoid unnecessary toxicity, minimize treatment costs and consider other treatment protocols.
