What is Transitional Cell Cancer?

Transitional cell carcinoma is a type of cancer that develops in the transitional cells of the body. These cells line the inside of many organs. Transitional cell carcinoma usually develops in the urinary tract, though it may occur in other parts of the body as well. It is the most common type of bladder cancer and the most common type of kidney cancer that starts in the renal pelvis.

Transitional Cell Cancer Survivor Troy Mikell

"The type of cancer I had was extremely rare, so it was challenging for even the most experienced cancer doctors. My radiation oncologist, Dr. Shrestha, was professional and confident with me from the start. Never once did she tell me my cancer wasn’t treatable. At that time, I could hardly express how much I appreciated her approach, after so many doctors had told me to go home and prepare to die.”"
