Radiation Therapy for Thyroid CancerĀ
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), radiation therapy is used to treat selected thyroid cancers. It may be used following surgery (known as adjuvant therapy), to kill any microscopic cancer cells that were left behind.
Radiation treatments may also be used to treat more advanced cancers when surgery may not be as effective, or to shrink tumors and relieve symptoms if the cancer has spread. Depending on your needs, radiation therapy may be combined with chemotherapy to make the cancer cells more sensitive to the radiation. This treatment is known as chemoradiation.
At CTCA, we use innovative radiation treatment technologies to target thyroid cancer cells and minimize the damage to healthy tissues.
