Radiation Therapy for Testicular CancerĀ
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), radiation therapy is used to treat some testicular cancers, particularly seminomas which are very sensitive to radiation. It is most often used following surgery, to kill any microscopic traces of cancer in the retroperitoneal lymph nodes and to reduce the chance that the cancer will come back.
In addition, testicular cancer radiation therapy may be used in some cases to treat lymph nodes that are known to contain cancer cells.
At CTCA, our radiation oncologists use the most innovative and advanced techniques in radiation therapy to maximize the effect on the cancer cells, and to minimize damage to healthy tissues. When testicular cancer radiation therapy is used, special precautions are taken to shield the remaining testicle and preserve fertility.
