Osteosarcoma

The most common form of bone cancer. Osteosarcoma occurs when cells responsible for forming healthy bone matrix (the connective tissue and minerals that forms and strengthens the bone) produce weakened bone tissue instead. Osteosarcoma usually affects the long bones of the arm or leg. Most osteosarcomas occur between the ages of 10 and 30. Osteosarcoma can be classified as low-grade, intermediate-grade or high-grade, depending on the severity and how quickly the cancerous cells multiply and spread.
