Metastatic pancreatic cancer

Cancer that originates in the pancreas, but then spreads to other, nearby structures in the body. Common sites of distant metastatic spread of pancreatic cancer include the liver, lungs and peritoneum (abdominal cavity). Because symptoms often do not appear in the early stages of the disease, pancreatic cancer is often not detected until it has metastasized to other areas of the body. Also known as advanced pancreatic cancer.
