Stem Cell Unit

The Stem Cell Transplantation Unit at Cancer Treatment Centers of America was built to support patients and family members undergoing stem cell transplants. It is our goal to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. In addition to offering private patient rooms and many amenities of home, CTCA supports the patient and family members with a range of services, including nutritional counseling, mind-body medicine, physical therapy and spiritual support.

Inpatient Facilities:

• 9 beds, all with HEPA filters and positive air pressure
• All are private rooms, in a dedicated unit that is isolated from the rest of the hospital
• Separate bone-marrow harvesting facilities
• Intensive care monitoring capability
• Separate family conference and consultation rooms
• A Stem-Cell Processing and Cryopreservation Laboratory and a dedicated stem-cell research laboratory for development of new protocols
• Targeted dose, intravenous Busulfan therapy
• Total body irradiation (TBI) on campus; Tomotherapy^® is available for TBI
• Complementary and Alternative Medicine such as nutritional support, mind-body medicine, physical therapy and spiritual support available in unit, every day.
• The new Guest Quarters provides a comfortable experience for caregivers. The Guest Quarters has 40 private suites, shared kitchen and common area and is located 5 minutes from the hospital. Free shuttle service is provided between the hospital and Guest Quarters throughout the day.

Outpatient Facilities:

• A separate dedicated apheresis unit contiguous to the inpatient unit
• Separate family conference and consultation rooms
• A Stem-Cell Processing and Cryopreservation Laboratory and a dedicated stem-cell research laboratory for development of new protocols
• A comfortable waiting room for patients
• Targeted dose, intravenous Busulfan therapy
• Total body irradiation (TBI) on campus; Tomotherapy^® is available for TBI
