Staging is the process of classifying cancer by the location and size of cancer cells. Stages range from 1 (least advanced) through 4 (most advanced). Stage 1 means that the tumor is small and has not spread to the lymph nodes or other parts of the body. By stage 4, cancer has spread to other organs in the body and has increased in size. If you have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, you may feel that you are suffering alone, but you are not.
