Our chaplains and pastoral care providers nurture your spiritual well-being and support all aspects of your faith. Learn how our spiritual care team integrates their services throughout your spinal cancer treatment and recovery.
Spiritual Support for Spinal Cancer
Sometimes, a spinal cancer diagnosis can make you question your faith. Some patients experience feelings of depression, hopelessness or anger.
The Pastoral Care Department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) provides spiritual support to you and your loved ones to help you cope with the disease.
When you first arrive at CTCA, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with a chaplain/ spiritual counselor. Whether or not you decide to seek spiritual support services during your treatment is completely up to you.
If you decide to meet with a chaplain, he or she will meet with you privately and/or with you and your family. Based upon your preferences and identified needs, your chaplain will work with you to address any barriers to hope and improve your spiritual wellness.
Spiritual Support Services
Throughout your spinal cancer treatment, you and/or your loved ones may decide to use any of the following spiritual support services:
- Individual and group prayer
- Weekly interfaith worship services
- Classes that focus on healing, faith and life
- Forgiveness education
- Prayer and counsel before and/or after treatments
- Caregiving classes/support
- Assistance with developing advanced directives and/or living wills
- Telephone consultations with patients/family members
- Interface with your local pastor and church (with your permission)
Continuous Support for Spinal Cancer
The pastoral care team will treat you with great sensitivity and respect to your religious background and traditions. If you would be more comfortable seeing clergy from your own faith affiliation, we will contact local clergy to meet your specific religious needs.
While at CTCA, spiritual support services for spinal cancer patients and their families are available 24 hours a day, seven days. After your treatment is complete, spiritual support is still available by phone and through our spiritual outreach program, Our Journey of Hope®.
