“I strive to help patients achieve their nutritional goals and live a healthier lifestyle before, during and after cancer treatment.” says Catherine Kelly Curd, Clinical Oncology Dietitian at CTCA at Southwestern Regional Medical Center.

Curd earned a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Stillwater, OK, where she also completed a six-month dietetic internship. During this time, she completed several clinical rotations at Tulsa-area hospitals, and served as a research and teaching assistant.

As part of her dietetic internship through OSU, Curd spent four weeks shadowing CTCA dietitians. Of her experience, Curd says: “I instantly knew that CTCA was a place I wanted to eventually work. It was so different than any other place that I had been.”

“The dietitians at CTCA inspired me so much, they really make an impact on their patients’ lives, and the patients really value what they have to say, which was so different than any other aspect of my prior experiences.”

Since officially joining CTCA in August 2013, Curd says: “CTCA is a place of hope that is solely focused on the patients and their care, which is amazing to me.”

She adds: “I love that the care here is so team-based, and that I have an opportunity to really help patients nutritionally in their day-to-day lives and to build relationships with them and their caregivers.”

Curd earned a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Oklahoma Dietetic Association and the Tulsa District Dietetic Association.

When she isn’t working, Curd loves to be outdoors, cook, read and play tennis. She also enjoys visiting her family in Wichita Falls, TX, where she grew up.
