As a radiologist at CTCA at Southwestern Regional Medical Center, Dr. Timothy McCay plays a critical role in our patients’ care. He performs minimally invasive procedures using the some of the most sophisticated, medical imaging tools and software available. These intricate procedures help our oncologists to diagnose and treat some of our patients.
Dr. McCay completed his residency in radiology at Oklahoma State University Medical Center (formerly known as Tulsa Regional Medical Center), where he also served as chief intern. He received his medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University. Prior to that, he completed two undergraduate degrees—one in nuclear medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and the other in chemistry. While working on his second bachelor’s of science degree, Dr. McCay conducted research on nuclear medicine cardiovascular imaging.
Before joining our staff of compassionate cancer experts, Dr. McCay helped establish a teleradiology practice at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. This allowed diagnostic images to be electronically transmitted among 14 Oklahoma hospitals. Dr. McCay also gained significant experience as a nuclear medicine technologist at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. In addition, he worked as a chemist and director of two district labs for Halliburton, and spent two years working in respiratory therapy.
A board-certified radiologist, Dr. McCay is a member of a number of professional associations, including the American College of Radiology and the Society of Nuclear Medicine, as well as the American and Oklahoma Osteopathic associations.
Dr. McCay has been developing a case presentation for submission to the journal Endoscopy. He has also submitted an abstract to the American Heart Journal.
In his spare time, he enjoys breeding and showing horses and spending time with his family.
