Kylie Cox is a registered and licensed dietitian in the Nutrition & Metabolic Support Department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southwestern Regional Medical Center.
Cox earned a bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences from the University of Oklahoma. Her background includes experience as a clinical dietitian at an acute care hospital in New York City.
An interest in oncology nutrition brought Cox to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in 2006. She says CTCA is a great place to work because of the caring and compassion the physicians and staff members show towards patients and their caregivers.
Cox says she also enjoys being able to work with the other Southwestern departments to provide comprehensive care for each patient. She appreciates that her department is recognized by staff members as a valued part of the integrative care model. “We are an integral part of the whole-body approach of CTCA,” she says.
Cox says she and her team are readily available to patients and their caregivers, answering questions and providing support. “We spend a lot of time with our patients and caregivers to make sure they feel comfortable with the information provided,” she says.
Cox says she enjoys working side-by-side with patients in their fight against cancer. “I love the patients here at CTCA. Everyone is willing to do whatever it takes to fight the disease,” says Cox.
Cox says she and her team provide symptom-control education to make sure each patient is eating and drinking adequately during chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She says her overall goal is to build up patients’ immune systems to help fight the cancer.
