Naturopathic clinician Daniel Lander is committed to holistic, or whole-person, patient care.
“My goal is to accompany patients on their journey with cancer while helping to facilitate their individual healing process and by working in conjunction with the healing powers of nature before, during and after treatment,” he says.
Lander’s interest in the healing power of nature began as a young child, when he would spend his summers identifying and learning about medicinal plants growing wild in the woods behind his grandmother’s cottage. The knowledge that nature possesses the ability to promote healing and wellness inspired him to follow a career in naturopathic medicine.
Board certified as a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO), Lander earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. While in Toronto, he also received advanced training in classical homeopathic medicine as a student and intern of Joseph Kellerstein, DC, ND, FCAH. Lander received his premedical training from the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree (with honors) in nutritional and nutraceutical sciences.
Lander joined the Naturopathic Medicine Department at CTCA at Southwestern Regional Medical Center (Southwestern) in 2006 as a resident. After completing a two-year residency in naturopathic oncology, he moved into his current role as a staff naturopath. In addition to his naturopathic duties, Lander also provides acupuncture treatment at Southwestern.
“What I like most about working at CTCA is the team approach to patient care,” he says. “Having the opportunity to collaborate and strategize with so many different healthcare professionals to ensure the best care for patients has really been a dream come true.”
Lander is a strong proponent of naturopathic oncology. Presently, he sits on the Board of Directors for the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He is also president of the Oklahoma Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Additionally, Lander is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the American Holistic Medical Association.
In his spare time, Lander enjoys practicing Bikram yoga, playing the French horn in the Tulsa Community Concert Band, camping, kayaking, gardening, and just getting outside to reconnect with nature.
