Carolyn Ekenstam, PhD – Psychologist

As a licensed clinical psychologist in the Mind-Body Medicine Department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southwestern Regional Medical Center, Dr. Carolyn Ekenstam is dedicated to helping you cope with the psychological stresses of cancer and cancer treatment.

Dr. Ekenstam holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Tulsa, where she also earned a master's degree. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas.

Dr. Ekenstam has extensive experience in crisis management, individual and group therapy, stress management and counseling for depression and anxiety problems.

Dr. Ekenstam joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America in 2007. She says what she enjoys most about working at CTCA is “the focus on the patient and seeing that he or she gets the best treatment possible and the most information.” She said she also appreciates that patients here are in charge of their care.

Dr. Ekenstam says her overall goal for patients is to provide them with the best care possible to meet their current and future needs. She says she hopes to make a connection with each patient so that “we can work together as a team and I can use the resources I have for the patient’s benefit.”
