"There's no cookie cutter fix to nutrition. Every case is different. Every patient is different. Everybody has a different medical history. That's why at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, we make an individualized nutrition plan for each patient that takes into account all of the patient's individual needs so we can try to keep him or her nourished and strong."
Andrea Reser, MS, RD, CSO, LD
Food & Nutrition Manager
Andrea Reser is the Food and Nutrition Manager in the Nutrition and Metabolic Support Department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southwestern Regional Medical Center (Southwestern). Each day, Reser, along with the other members of the nutrition team, does everything possible to see that patients stay strong and nutritionally balanced so their treatment is not interrupted.
A registered and licensed dietitian, Reser earned a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences from Oklahoma State University. She also holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration.
Reser completed a dietetic internship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. While she was there, Reser studied at the National Cancer Institute, where she worked with oncology patients. Reser is also board certified in oncology nutrition.
Reser joined CTCA in October 2005. She and the rest of the nutrition and metabolic support team at Southwestern take a proactive approach to patient care and strive to address small nutrition issues before they can become a major problem.
Reser says she enjoys the individualized approach, without time constraints, that she is able to provide for patients at Southwestern. Each patient receives an individualized, comprehensive nutrition assessment and plan. Reser says her department uses cutting-edge technology to better assess the nutritional needs of patients.
Reser says her goal is to help patients get through their treatment plans successfully. She also says she appreciates the quality of the food available at Southwestern. She says it helps keep patients’ bodies nourished because they enjoy eating it.
Reser says what she likes best about working at CTCA is the team atmosphere, innovative approach and the opportunity to be part of the patient’s family.
