Comfort Rounds: A team approach
You are sitting among a group of smiling, caring faces. The atmosphere is relaxed, informal. You feel comfortable asking questions and talking about your thoughts and feelings. You know these people care. You know they want what is best for you. Where are you?
You are experiencing what we call "Comfort Rounds" at Southwestern. Every Thursday morning, our team of professionals meets with each of our hospitalized patients (our in-patients) for Comfort Rounds.
The Comfort Team, led by Dr. Mark Axness, is here to discuss your physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, or other concerns. This is an opportunity for you and your family to meet face-to-face with doctors and practitioners from various departments within the hospital, including the following:
- Nutrition and Metabolic Support
- Naturopathic Medicine
- Oncology Rehabilitation (Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy)
- Pain Management
- Mind-Body Medicine
- Pastoral Care
- Pharmacy
- Nursing
- Care Management

Comfort Round meetings are optional and the length of the meeting varies depending on your needs and concerns.
