Dr. Ritwick Panicker
Hematologist-Oncologist & Medical Oncologist
Board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology, Dr. Ritwick Panicker trained in three different countries: India, the United Kingdom and the United States. He earned a medical degree from Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, followed by an internal medicine residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. He then completed a hematology fellowship at two hospitals in the United Kingdom.
In 1988, Dr. Panicker moved to the United States. He completed an internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a medical oncology fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Dr. Panicker spent the next several years as a hematologist-oncologist in two hospital-based practices in Concord, North Carolina and Logan, West Virginia. He also served as a consulting associate in the Department of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center.
Prior to joining Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southwestern Regional Medical Center, Dr. Panicker served as a hematologist-oncologist at a private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In October 2010, Dr. Panicker joined CTCA. He says he was drawn to CTCA by the integrative approach to caring for cancer patients.
“The care model at CTCA is the most comprehensive I have ever seen. It brings all the modalities of cutting-edge cancer therapies, such as radiation therapy, surgery, interventional radiology and numerous others under one roof,” he says.
A genuine listener, Dr. Panicker enjoys being able to spend time with his patients, obtaining a thorough history, listening to their concerns, answering their questions and carefully reviewing their treatment options with them.
Dr. Panicker is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
