What Are Nurse Practitioners?
Nurse practitioners, or “NPs”, are licensed clinicians who work under the supervision of doctors. These healthcare providers have earned masters’ degrees in nursing. They are certified to practice in partnership with doctors.
Nurse practitioners at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) are trained in oncology. They have extensive experience in communicating information about cancer and cancer treatments to patients in layman’s terms.
CTCA nurse practitioners:
- Conduct physical exams
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Write prescriptions, including for chemotherapy and other cancer-related treatments
- Manage cancer symptoms and treat side effects
- Counsel on preventative healthcare
