“My goal for patients is to help them be all they can be. I want them to see that they aren’t just victims to genes and germs, but that they have choices and their choices make a difference,” says Dr. Howard Boos, a licensed chiropractor at CTCA at Southwestern Regional Medical Center (Southwestern).

Dr. Boos earned a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He completed pre-medical training at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. Dr. Boos also holds certifications in spinal trauma, skeletal disorders X-ray, and Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique.

Additionally, Dr. Boos completed post-doctoral courses through the Gonstead Clinical Studies Society, the Acupuncture Society of America, the Motion Palpation Institute, the XIII International Congress of Anti-Aging Medicine, and the National Association for the Advancement of Scientific Chiropractic.

Prior to joining CTCA, Dr. Boos spent over 30 years in private practice in Tulsa. He also served as Adjunct Professor at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri; Logan Chiropractic College in Chesterfield, Missouri; and Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas.

In addition, Dr. Boos served as a chiropractic doctor for dancers in the Tulsa Ballet Theatre for nearly 20 years. He also spent a year as a traveling chiropractic doctor for the Oral Roberts University Titan Basketball Team.

Since 2004, Dr. Boos has hosted a weekly radio show titled “Living Well with Dr. Howard Boos” for KRMG Radio in Tulsa. He was also part of the New York City Incident Response Team, and provided chiropractic care at Ground Zero after September 11, 2001. For this, he earned Red Cross certification through the New York Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Boos regularly attends professional seminars internationally, covering a wide variety of technique and philosophical topics. He has earned several awards, including the Quest Alliance Doctor of the Year Award and the National Institute for Chiropractic Research (NICR) Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chiropractic Research.

In June 2009, Dr. Boos joined the chiropractic team at Southwestern. “Walking into the hospital is such a powerful, positive experience. It has a spirit of life and energy and healing. CTCA is a beacon of light in health care,” he says.

When asked what he likes most about working for CTCA, Dr. Boos says: “It is refreshing to see a staff that is willing to put aside their own egos and provide patients whatever they need, whether it is in their field or not. CTCA provides the best of both worlds by combining conventional and complementary medicine.”

Dr. Boos says he appreciates the team approach CTCA takes to patient care. “Over the last 30 years, I have always told my patients how important it is to have a health care team. CTCA sees the same importance in a team approach that truly empowers the patient.”

Regarding his relationship with his patients, Dr. Boos says, “I enjoy participating in the healing of patients. I see it as a dynamic relationship. I do my part and the patients do their part in order to restore health.”

Dr. Boos is a member of the Palmer College of Chiropractic President’s Club, the Oklahoma State Chiropractic Association, the Quest Alliance Brain Trust, the Oklahoma State Chiropractic Association, and the Big Idea Chiropractic Philosophy Association, which he founded.
