“I was thrilled to find a facility that shared my philosophy about the way healthcare should be,” says Naturopathic Oncology Provider Tanya Lawson about Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA). Lawson joined our Newnan, Georgia, hospital in 2013.

Originally from Canada, Lawson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Ottawa, graduating magna cum laude. She completed her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, where she received the Swiss Herbal Bursary for Excellence in Women’s Health Promotion.

Since completing her studies, Lawson has pursued additional professional development in mind/body medicine and positive psychology at Harvard Medical School in Boston. She took courses on stress management and weight training at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine in Boston.

Lawson began practicing naturopathic medicine in 2006. She established an integrative health center in Ontario, where she provided complementary health services. In 2010, she founded a medical spa and wellness clinic that provides naturopathic and noninvasive treatments for dermatologic conditions.

A licensed naturopathic doctor in the state of Vermont, Lawson is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Georgia Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and The Society of Integrative Oncology. She has spoken at national conventions in Canada and has written for professional magazines. Lawson also has appeared as a wellness expert in television, radio and print in Canada.

At CTCA, Lawson uses evidence-based integrative therapies to help reduce the side effects of cancer and its treatment and to address any symptoms patients may be experiencing.

A passionate advocate of Patient-Empowered Care® model, Lawson makes sure her patients are involved in all treatment decisions. “An involved patient is a happier patient,” she says. Alongside her treatment recommendations, she always coaches patients to live moment by moment.

Outside of work, Lawson enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, She is interested in healthy cooking, active living and interior design.
