Dr. Mary Ninan finds that working on a multidisciplinary team of clinicians allows medical oncologists like her to provide the most appropriate care for each patient. The integrative, patient-centered approach at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) facilitates this type of patient care, says Ninan, a Medical Oncologist.
At CTCA, Dr. Ninan evaluates and treats patients with various types of cancer, with a particular focus on hematologic malignancies and breast cancer. She strives to provide comprehensive care, taking as much time as her patients need to understand their treatment options.
“Patients should be able to understand all the implications of a proposed treatment before making a decision,” says Dr. Ninan. “Every patient needs an individualized care plan.”
A dedicated researcher, Dr. Ninan is a principal investigator on several clinical trials focused on advancing the treatment of leukemia and multiple myeloma. She has published research on the treatment of hematologic malignancies in numerous scientific journals and has regularly presented her work at professional conferences.
Dr. Ninan is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society of Hematologic Oncology.
Dr. Ninan completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Atlanta Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in hematology, oncology and transplantation at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She joined CTCA® in Newnan, Georgia, in August 2014. Prior to CTCA, Dr. Ninan was an assistant professor of hematology and oncology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Originally from India, Dr. Ninan earned her medical degree at Trichur Medical College in Kerala, India. Dr. Ninan came to the United States as a research fellow with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she focused on studying viruses.
When she's not working, Dr. Ninan enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters and their dog, taking trips together to explore new places whenever they can. She also enjoys listening to music, baking, reading, and volunteering at church and her children’s school.
