With more than two decades of clinical experience, Kelly Prater Whitmore is committed to helping patients maintain or improve their strength and functional ability. At the same time, she is focused on reducing or preventing pain.

Overall, Prater Whitmore wants her patients to enjoy their families, favorite hobbies and activities again.

Prater Whitmore joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at our hospital in Newnan, Georgia, in 2013. She most enjoys working with patients and being a part of the CTCA integrative model of care, which joins physicians and integrative care clinicians in patient care.

“The team approach at CTCA is a blessing for the patients, caretakers and stakeholders,” Prater Whitmore says. “Patient care is first and foremost for all clinicians.”

At CTCA, Prater Whitmore sees patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses, both as inpatients and outpatients. She evaluates patients, provides treatments, communicates with caregivers and coordinates with each patient’s care team.

With her own sister having battled breast cancer, Prater Whitmore understands the struggles cancer patients experience. Her sister, Shelly, serves as an inspiration for Prater Whitmore while she treats patients at CTCA.

Prater Whitmore has worked as a physical therapist since 1990. Between 2000 and 2012, she had her own physical therapy practice.

Prater Whitmore has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated cum laude and was president of her physical therapy class.

Outside of her clinical work, Prater Whitmore spends time volunteering at her church and attending her children’s activities. She and husband Lance have been married for 21 years and have two children, Alaina and Derek.

Prater Whitmore enjoys family time, photography, and art and crafts. A Georgia resident for 22 years, she also likes spending time outdoors, going to either the lake or beach and hiking.
