As a clinical registered dietitian, Corey Cassise is focused on educating patients on how nutrition can help them manage cancer. Cassise, who has 15 year of experience as a dietician, joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at our Newnan, Georgia, hospital in 2013.
“I want my patients to feel at ease and have confidence in me and my abilities,” she says. “My hope is that they know I have their best interests at heart.”
Cassise earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, in 1996. She worked as a dietician in Michigan between 1998 and 2005 and in Georgia beginning in 2008.
During her interview at CTCA, Cassise was impressed with our team approach to patient care, which she says allows patients to feel comfortable with each clinician who provides care. At the same time, clinicians are able to build relationships with their patients.
Our Patient Empowered Care® model, which puts patients at the center of their treatment, was equally impressive, she says.
“The fact that patients are the main focus at CTCA is what I admire the most,” Cassise says. “When I talk to patients they explain to me how comfortable they feel here. Knowing that I can make someone feel that way when they are going through such a difficult time fighting cancer makes me feel good.”
Cassise is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Away from work, Cassise spends most of her free time with her three children. She also enjoys playing tennis, exercising and reading a good book at the beach.
