There is no need to leave the hospital to pick up your prescriptions, as we're your neighborhood pharmacy while you're in town. Our Retail Pharmacy is located on the ground floor of Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southeastern Regional Medical Center (Southeastern).
In addition to your medications, the Southeastern Retail Pharmacy offers an array of vitamins and supplements. These products are available for our inpatients and outpatients, as well as for caregivers, family members and CTCA stakeholders.
For added convenience, we can even fill your prescriptions while you’re here and FedEx them home to you when you finish treatment at the hospital.
A Caring Team
Nancy Harris, our retail pharmacy manager, works closely with your physicians, dietitians, naturopathic clinicians and care managers. Therefore, she can easily access them, if necessary, to ensure that your prescription needs are fulfilled.
With over 15 years of pharmacy experience, Harris enjoys having the opportunity to interact with CTCA patients on a daily basis, whether it is filling a prescription or just supplying a friendly greeting.
Should you have any questions about your medications or insurance coverage, Harris and her staff are always available with answers. Most prescriptions are available immediately, with a 24-hour turnaround for specialized prescriptions that need to be ordered just for you.
In addition to your prescription needs, our shelves are stocked with about 200 different supplements such as fish oils, minerals, protein powders, immune system support and digestive enzymes from CNCA. Your naturopathic oncology provider can help you choose from a variety of CNCA supplements, which are
highly pure and potent, and abide by rigorous quality standards.
Hospital Pharmacy
The hospital pharmacy is located near the Infusion Center and mixes both chemotherapeutic and intravenous medications as well as provides all of the others drugs to service our patients.
Jason Rich, Director, Pharmacy, oversees the hospital pharmacy. He has over 16 years of experience in a pharmacy environment, and he and the rest of the team are devoted to patient safety. Each ordered medication goes through extensive double checks before it reaches the patient, and verified against many parameters such as lab results, patient status, past treatment, diagnosis and more.
"The safety checks in a hospital environment are important since the patient is oftenimes already in a weakened or compromised state," says Rich. "At CTCA, we take that one step further by regularly using medications with a low therapeutic index. We have several checks in place to assure both proper medication and dose."
Also, technologies such as KBMA and Swisslog are used as a double-check to ensure the appropriate product reaches the patient.
