Summer Baptist, MS, ND, LAc
Naturopathic Oncology Provider & Acupuncturist

Born and raised in Hawaii, Summer Baptist, MS, ND, LAc, joined the team at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in December 2012. “I am so excited to be part of a hospital that believes as I do about how important it is to treat our patients like family,” says Baptist.

Baptist earned a master’s of science in acupuncture and Oriental medicine from the Institute of Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Honolulu, Hawaii. She also earned a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario.

Prior to joining CTCA, Baptist worked as an associate naturopathic physician and acupuncturist at two different locations in Hawaii. She has also spent time as a health educator, serving as an associate professor and Chair of the biomedical department in curriculum development at the Institute of Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Baptist has been a health and wellness contributor to various publications, and also assisted in conducting research for the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She’s given numerous presentations, including one on natural immune support for the American Cancer Society of Hawaii Fit for Life program.

“My overall goal for my patients is for them to feel supported, empowered and educated about all their health decisions and throughout their treatment,” says Baptist. “I believe that naturopathic medicine is a necessary part of cancer patient care because it provides the other half of medicine that can be overlooked at times. That other half is the nourishing and innate part of our healing process that allows for recovery, balance and quality of life.”

Having been raised in Hawaii, Baptist feels a close connection to nature. “I feel connected to people in our community as an ‘ohana’ – which means family in Hawaiian,” says Baptist. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, music, cooking, dancing and ocean sports.
