Otolaryngologist
As an otolaryngologist – or ear, nose and throat (ENT) physician – Dr. Kowal treats patients who have head and neck cancer, as well as other ENT-related problems. In addition to
performing surgery, he helps
monitor his patients’ care along the way. In the future, Dr. Kowal plans to assist Southeastern in launching a sleep studies program, and will be trained in using robotics and lasers for the
transoral approach to treating
head and neck tumors.
Board certified in head and neck surgery since 1991, Dr. Kowal earned an undergraduate degree in bio-mechanical engineering from Syracuse
University. He attended medical school
at Tufts Medical School in Boston, and then completed post graduate medical training in head and neck surgery at University of California at Irvine.
Before becoming a part of
the Southeastern team in 2012,
Dr. Kowal worked in private practice in New York and the Atlanta area. Dr. Kowal is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Academy of
Sleep Medicine and American
Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
Dr. Kowal lives with his wife and four children, and enjoys playing golf and tennis when he can find free time.
