Trilogy™ Treatment for Soft Tissue Sarcoma
Another soft tissue sarcoma treatment option available at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is Varian's Trilogy™ system. A powerful and innovative radiation therapy delivery tool, Trilogy allows our radiation oncologists to deliver optimal doses of radiation with increased accuracy.
Delivering both image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) from one machine, the Trilogy radiation therapy system allows us to take a cone beam computer tomography (CT) scan before treating the tumor to insure accuracy. The CT can also assist us in monitoring the progress of the tumor during your soft tissue sarcoma Trilogy treatment.
By monitoring the size and shape of the tumor on a daily basis, we can make adjustments throughout the course of the treatment. This technology helps to provide extremely accurate targeting of radiation therapy, and helps to avoid harm to healthy surrounding tissues.
The Trilogy radiation therapy system administers treatment at a rate that is significantly faster than many other systems, which minimizes the time that you spend in the treatment room receiving radiation therapy.
