Image enhancement for soft tissue sarcoma

Soft tissue sarcoma image enhancement

Some additional image enhancement services for soft tissue sarcoma include:

  • Cosmetic image enhancement: CTCA offers cosmetic image enhancement to support you as you undergo soft tissue sarcoma treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. We want to help you anticipate and prepare for the potential changes in appearance (such as hair loss or surgical scars) and body image issues that may result from treatment. We also offer classes and seminars for you, your family and community members.

  • Plastic and reconstructive surgery support: Surgical oncologists at CTCA work closely with our plastic and reconstructive surgeons. In many cases, our plastic surgeons can perform restorative surgical procedures during, or following, your soft tissue sarcoma surgery.

During limb-sparing surgery, reconstructive surgeons may be called upon to assist with surgical wound closure, which may include replacing the tissue that is lost when the tumor is removed. For some patients, the plastic surgeon will take muscle and tissues from other areas of the body, and fill in the void that is left behind after removal of the tumor.

  • Prosthesis: Though amputation is rare, for some patients it still may be the best way to treat this disease, as well as to reduce the risk of sarcoma recurrence. If this is a part of your treatment plan, your soft tissue sarcoma team at CTCA is available to help you adjust to your prosthesis, both physically and emotionally. Your oncology rehabilitation team will help you relearn activities using your prosthesis, while the mind-body medicine team can help you deal with the changes in your appearance.
