Robyn Callahan

“This isn’t a job for me. It’s who I am,” says Robyn Callahan about her work as the mind-body therapist at Seattle Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center (SCTWC). “I know the importance of a simple smile, direct eye contact, and a listening ear.  The gift of presence goes beyond words.” Callahan sees herself as a compassionate therapist, educator and advocate as she guides those affected by cancer toward a sense of well-being.

A practitioner at Northwest Integrated Health, Callahan joined the team at SCTWC in 2009. She believes that living what she practices gives her unique insight into the experiences of her patients. She never stops looking for ways to access the power of the mind and body to heal itself.

Callahan has worked with clients all over the world and understands that each individual brings with them their own set of beliefs, philosophies and experiences. At the same time, she recognizes: “There is a commonality in all of human nature that crosses cultures, languages and philosophies. Finding it within each person is the key to meeting them where they are.”  To help her clients address emotional and spiritual concerns, she combines a variety of techniques to provide support for each unique individual and situation.

Callahan graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and a Bachelor of Art in Psychology degree. She also completed clinical training in mind-body medicine at Harvard Medical School.  Robyn is registered in Washington state as both a counselor and nursing assistant.

In addition to her Western education, Callahan completed post-graduate training in Chinese Medicine, focusing on healing qigong and meditation at the Shaolin Monastery in the Henan Province of China. She has also studied imagery, visualization, and healing locally at Bastyr University.

Callahan, who brings a sense of joy and openness to her work, says she is delighted to serve as the newest member of the integrated cancer care team at Seattle Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center.

Truly believing that anything is possible, Callahan states, “I am happy to be working among, and supported by, other expert health practitioners instilled with hope.”
