Overview

For over 20 years, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) has been providing comprehensive cancer care by integrating leading-edge medical treatments including radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery with complementary therapies such as naturopathic medicine, nutrition, oncology rehabilitation, mind-body medicine and spiritual support.

Western Regional Medical Center (Western), located in Goodyear, Arizona, joined CTCA’s national network of cancer hospitals and community treatment centers in December 2008. The other CTCA facilities are located in Zion, Illinois; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Seattle, Washington. CTCA is headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois.

In 2010, CTCA at Western was named Arizona’s Hospital of the Year by Arizona Business Magazine. As the nation’s first all-digital cancer hospital, CTCA at Western also earned the honor of earning a 2010 CIO 100 Award and 2010 Most Wired designation.

Facilities:

At five stories, CTCA at Western is the tallest building south of Interstate 10 in the City of Goodyear. The hospital is 213,000-square feet and located on 25 acres. The fifth floor features a beautiful rooftop garden with breathtaking views of the Estrella and White Tank Mountains as well as the Phoenix metro area.

CTCA at Western has 24 acuity-adaptable inpatient rooms. These rooms are designed to accommodate all levels of patient care, including intensive care, and are the first of their kind in Arizona.

The average patient travels over 500 miles each way to treat at CTCA at Western. To accommodate those patients, the hospital features 32 outpatient guest rooms and 11 RV hook-ups. Those patients wishing to stay off-site may chose from one of 14 local hotels contracted by CTCA to provide discounted room rates.

Trademark Principles

By utilizing Patient Empowerment MedicineSM, patients and caregivers are positioned at the center of their care and are encouraged to voice opinions and participate in their own treatment decisions.

Patient Empowered Care® Teams work together to develop individualized, integrative treatment plans to care for the whole person, not just the cancer. Every patient is assigned a designated team to include their oncologist, naturopathic physician, nutritionist, care manager, and mind-body therapist who will guide them through their journey.

CTCA was built on The Mother Standard® of care. By following the Mother Standard, every employee is empowered to lovingly care for patients and their caregivers the same way they would want their own loved ones to be treated. More than the gold standard, the Mother Standard has transformed the face of oncology care.
