"Cancer treatment is so complex that one size does not fit all," explains Dr. Chue. "Our focus is on taking care of the whole person. While our primary discipline is medical oncology, we also provide consultations for a range of complementary therapies which, for some people, may promote comfort and healing."

Bio

Dr. Chue came to the Seattle Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center in 1998 and is one of two board-certified medical oncologists on staff. His current focus is on innovative approaches to certain difficult-to-treat cancers: pancreatic, metastatic melanoma, and relapsed lymphoma and leukemia.

Dr. Chue has been a pioneer in the use of low-dose, or “metronomic” chemotherapy, which effectively fights tumors while drastically reducing the often debilitating side effects of traditional chemotherapy.

Long before other clinicians, he offered promising, leading-edge treatments, including Herceptin for early-stage aggressive breast cancers (1999) and targeted therapy with the smart drug Rituxan for aggressive lymphoma.

Dr. Chue is board-certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology. A graduate of Yale University with a degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry, his internal medicine residency was at the University of Washington. He received his doctorate at the University of California at San Francisco. He is a clinical instructor at the UW School of Medicine and has worked at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the University of Washington Cancer Center and Virginia Mason Medical Center as a fellow in oncology. Dr. Chue has extensive experience in hematology and bone marrow transplants as well.

He has conducted research in immunology, molecular biology, nutrition and cancer at Yale University, the University of California at San Francisco, the National Institute of Health, Rockefeller University and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
