Patients, caregivers and spiritual community to lay foundation of new Cancer Treatment Centers of America hospital with blessings

Participants to write scripture verses and other inspirational messages on hospital floors

ATLANTA, April 30, 2012 – Patients, caregivers, local spiritual representatives and hospital staff will participate in a unique blessing event as Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Southeastern Regional Medical Center is nearing the 100-day countdown to opening its doors to patients and their families from across the region.

The blessing ceremony will take place Saturday, May 5 from 10:00 am to noon at the soon-to-open comprehensive cancer center, 600 Parkway North in Newnan. Participants will place hope-filled, permanent marks on various areas of the hospital floor by writing favorite scriptures and inspirational messages.

“We do everything we can to help cancer patients live, and live with a quality of life, through a model of care that focuses on the needs of each patient – mind, body and spirit,” said Rev. Chip Gordon, director of pastoral care at CTCA at Southeastern. “These words bless the hospital, the patients and families who come here for care, and those who serve them.”

The all-digital hospital will open August 15, featuring 25 private inpatient treatment rooms, surgical suites, specialized treatment suites for endoscopy and bronchoscopy, state-of-the- art radiation and infusion therapy departments, rehabilitation and physical therapy department, concierge services, a dining room, chapel, onsite accommodations for outpatients and their families, and more. The hospital will be the first in Georgia to provide radiation therapy with Varian TrueBeam™ technology, in addition to TomoTherapy® HD, digital imaging and interventional angiography.

The Newnan facility joins CTCA regional hospitals in suburban Chicago, Philadelphia, Tulsa and suburban Phoenix. CTCA specializes in treating advanced-stage and complex cancer with a fully integrated model that combines leading clinical treatments and technologies with scientifically supported complementary therapies to help manage side effects and improve each patient’s quality of life.
