Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa Expands Inpatient Pharmacy and Adds Surgical Space

Construction projects to grow hospital by approximately 14,000 square feet

Tulsa, Okla. - Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Tulsa is kicking off the New Year with the launch of a surgical expansion, announced today on the heels of a newly completed inpatient pharmacy expansion. Together the projects will add approximately 14,000 square feet to the regional cancer hospital at 10109 E. 79th St.

“Our expansion efforts are part of our strategic long-term plan to continue offering our patients the services they value,” said Karl Berens, assistant vice president of general services at CTCA in Tulsa. “It’s all part of our Mother Standard® of care – treating our patients with the same compassionate, individualized approach to care that we would want our own loved ones to receive.

“We make it a standard practice to survey our patients to know what their needs are, even asking them their preference of carpeting and upholstery for furniture throughout the hospital.”

The 4,145-square-foot surgery expansion project will begin this month to create a third surgical room and a minor procedure room, and enlarge the two endoscopy and one bronchoscopy suites. Additionally, 2,898 square feet of space in the existing surgery department will be renovated.

The surgery renovation and expansion are estimated to cost approximately $3.1 million. PSA-Dewberry, Inc., is the project architect, and Oakridge Builders will manage construction. The estimated completion date has not yet been determined.

In December, CTCA completed an expansion of its Inpatient Pharmacy on the hospital’s second floor. Designed by PSA-Dewberry, Inc., and constructed by Oakridge Builders, the project also shelled space for a future remodel in the Infusion Center, adding 9,958 square feet to the building. The expansion created separate rooms for the mixing of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), chemotherapy and antibiotics for patients, as well as space for additional infusion bays for delivery of those agents.
