Pharyngeal Cancer Treatment: 3D Conformal Radiation
Three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy is just one of the innovative radiation techniques radiation oncologists use to treat pharyngeal cancer at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA).
By using computed tomography (CT) planning to image and reconstruct the tumor and surrounding pharyngeal tissue in three dimensions, 3D conformal radiation therapy allows our radiation oncologists to shape multiple radiation beams exactly to the contour of the treatment area. Because the radiation beams are precisely focused, nearby normal pharyngeal tissue is typically spared.
